Laughing (&) Buddha :)

This little idol of Budai or laughing Buddha, as he is famously called, is a special gift from my amma (mom). While leaving for post graduation, mom brought this to me as a token of happiness. . I kept him in my closet amid the pile of my belongings and when every time noticed  this generous man, he appeared like playfully reminding my carelessness and brought laughter :)
Later as I ventured to have some information on him,  I realized that this poor content man carried his possession in his cloth sack (Budai), gave candy to poor children and was shown smiling always. He represents good virtues of generosity, kindness, wisdom and laughter. Little do I know about him but still I carry a lot of admiration from this little knowing. He makes me comprehend that : Happiness is not a state acquired through materials, it is a spiritual state of our shining soul.
I admit, all these days this idol of Laughing Buddha alone didn’t make me grin but thought of my mother’s lovable intention to gift this precious idol always does :)
This picture clicked by me is a glimpse of smiling Buddha shining through  :)

Train Of THOUGHT :)

I am brought up hearing the tales wherein truth wins the drama, no matter how badly it has been suppressed or sabotaged by the evils of this world. I believe, the stories we hear become part of our belief system and our belief system becomes our life. We start living the story we believe in! Let us tell our children stories in which virtues, ethics and morals are the leading, victorious characters. Let us assert : Suffering in the path of truth and justice is not the actual suffering but savoring in the lane of  falsity and injustice is  actually is!

TRAIN of THOUGHT - I

Monday, July 29, 2013

As they say, ‘In life some people come as blessings while other come as lessons’, we all have our share of blessings and lessons. Blessings are always blissful! But lessons are difficult! No matter how bruised we are, how hard we try to seclude ourselves after learning good number of  lessons from bad people (who turned bad to us!), get shattered, we are after all ‘social’ beings and our tendency to get hooked to people reverts at one point or the other. We get desperate wondering why people are so unpredictable, why they always live behind the façade of something they are actually not and could never be.. However, finally we are obliged to travel along many... acquainted, unknown..! In the process we get convinced that we can’t label people as beautiful or ugly! People wouldn’t come under any brand as such!
When  I tuned into this ‘musing mode’ contemplating on all kinds of people out there, my mind whispered tenderly into my ears ‘ Let people walk into your life , not over it’!
